Biography Lubna Basolaiman is a translator at the Yemeni National Commission (YNC) for UNESCO, Science Department, located in Sanaía. Mrs. Basolaiman finished her college education, majoring in English, at the University of Aden in Yemen, in 1992. Before that, she worked among illiterates in her country, teaching them to read and write. She also worked in a military hospital under the National Service for two years. Her initial work of teaching literacy and adult education led her to a career in teaching in the preparatory and then secondary levels, immediately after her graduation from college. Her academic training in the English Department of the University of Aden gave her expertise in the second language, required of a translator in an international organization. Her connection with literacy programmes is mainly based in YNC as the
focus point between institutions, associations, and the ALALCSO (an Arabic
