Biography

Marcia Silveira Martins E Silveira has a bachelor's degree in languages. She graduated from Taubate University, located in Sao Paulo State, Brazil, in 1976. She has also taken many training courses, such as: Effective Listening, Instructor Skills, QPM-Quality Practice Management, English Immersion Course, Mid-Term Review-Planning and Evaluation Sections, Children and Adolescent Rights Seminar. She has also had training on many types of software for microcomputers.

In the beginning of her professional life she gave literacy classes to SESI's Fundamental School, and attended English classes in technical schools. Marcia has been "enrolled" in the education field since the period before she graduated. When she was only 15 years old, Marcia used to help beginning students, giving them non-formal reinforcement classes.

From thereon, she put aside her teaching skills and started working for many multinational firms. In the last eleven years, she worked for Arthur Andersen, an auditing and consulting firm. During that period, she was in charge of the administrative supervision of AA's office, thus employee recruitment and training was also a part of her professional duties.

In 1997 she started working for UNICEF in the Salvador office, Bahia State, Brazil. Her job duties include technical assistance of major projects in the educational, communication and children rights areas that UNICEF cooperates on in partnership with governmental agencies and NGOs.
