Introduction to APPEAL (S27)

The Asia-Pacific Programme of Education for All (APPEAL) is a regional co-operative program established by UNESCO in 1987 in response to a resolution adopted by the General Conference of UNESCO. Since its launching, APPEAL has promoted a wide range of collabrative programs for the promotion of primary education, literacy and continuing education in the countries of the Asia and Pacific region. The session will provide a comprehensive view on the major initiatives, programs and strategies carried out by APPEAL. It also will describe the achievements and limitations under this regional program.
